Victoria Stress Counselling
Stress is a part of life.
If we have healthy ways of dealing with it, if stressful occurrences are not too frequent, and if we have a solid support system, we may be able to cope with stress. However, some populations are exposed to multiple stressors; people who work in high-risk occupations, people with visible differences, people exposed to repeated sexual abuse, people from racial minorities, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals, and many others, are at risk of cumulative stress. When stress accumulates trauma can result. People exhibiting anger and self-blame may be experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Attentive listening and support can help alleviate the effects of stress. When stressful occurrences are kept to oneself, the trapped feelings can result in physical manifestations like sore backs, headaches, stomach problems, sleeplessness, nervousness, racing thoughts and sexual dysfunction. Talking it out can help to shift things, to move the blocked energy, and to engender new solutions.
If you would like to start working towards a renewed energy, Caron can work with you. Caron’s office is in Victoria, but through Skype, email, or the phone, she can be accessed from almost anywhere.
