Pain, whether emotional or physical, can be demoralizing and debilitating, especially when it occurs over a long period of time. Reaching out is the first difficult step on the path to healing. According to Public Health Canada, approximately 8% of adults will experience major depression in their lives. While some experts recommend medication to help with healing from depression, some studies suggest that talk therapy, or a combination of medication and talk therapy, is beneficial.

Have you ever heard the expression, “A burden shared is a burden halved?” By sharing your problems with another person, you may feel an immediate lightening, and an increase in your hope for a solution.

Physical and emotional pain are connected, and both can be alleviated through relaxation techniques, and by learning new ways of coping with problems. The brain is amazingly flexible and changeable, so never despair that your problems will be with you forever.
